Tour Community FarmShare’s Aggregation Site at Common Root Farm to learn how this exciting farm-based product aggregation site operates. Register here for the tour!
Community FarmShare is a nonprofit organization that partners with local organic, regenerative and naturally grown vegetable farms in Montgomery County to bring fresh, healthy produce to families experiencing food insecurity. Please join us to see their facilities and learn about operations at their local farm-based aggregation and cold storage site, located at Common Root Farm, in Derwood.
Farmers, agricultural and land use professionals, procurement professionals, county officials, and all stakeholders are welcome to join us on the tour. This event is brought to you by the Montgomery County Food Council’s Increased Local Food Procurement Working Group, which aims to understand and reduce barriers to getting more local product into more local food outlets, including institutions, food assistance sites, retail and wholesale establishments.
Wear your sturdy close-toed shoes, and prepare to do some walking (walking ~1000 feet, several times). Consider sun protection, as the tour may be partially outdoors. Transportation is not provided, but contact MCFC if you are interested in connecting with someone to carpool.
Location: 18101 Bowie Mill Road, Derwood MD 20855
The tour is rain or shine. If questions, contact Lorien MacAuley at lorien@mocofoodcouncil.org. For questions the day of the event, call /text Lorien at 703-789-7748.
