Recap: Transforming Food Systems through Advocacy: Community Leadership in Policy Change

Thanks to all who attended our two-part series, Transforming Food Systems through Advocacy: Community Leadership in Policy Change. The Food Council aimed to equip attendees with actionable strategies to advance their own advocacy efforts. Special thanks to all of our event speakers: Delegate Julie Palakovich Carr, County Executive Marc Elrich, Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz, Councilmember Craig Rice, Mayor Jud Ashman, Michael J. Wilson, Ben Parry, Manny Hidalgo, Patricia Drumming, Evelyn Kelly and Vanessa Pierre. Additionally, thank you to our event sponsor, Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-Op, and event partner Holy Cross Health.

By learning how nonprofit and community leaders can engage elected officials, the series provided concrete next steps to affect food system policy change at the local, county, and state levels. For those who could not attend, we hope to see you at a future event and invite you to view more information at www.mocofoodcouncil.org/advocacy, and the recordings at our YouTube Channel linked below:
