The activities of the Food Council are accomplished primarily through our Working Groups, led by Council Members and populated by concerned residents with a shared commitment to making a positive impact in our food system.
These subcommittees develop and executive initiatives, support policies, and facilitate partnerships connected to their specific goals.
Anyone is invited to join the Working Groups, which meet more frequently and independently than the whole Food Council. Public participation in our working groups is essential for our success and we welcome all volunteers to join our effort.
Please contact mocofoodcouncil@gmail.com if you or your organization/business is interested in getting involved. Information on the mission, current projects, and meeting details is available on each Working Group page.
Many of our neighbors are deeply entrenched in poverty, and over 60,000 of them are unsure of where or when they will get their next meal. The Montgomery County Food Security Plan was released in 2017, and serves as the blueprint for how every local business, nonprofit, government agency and resident can contribute to ensuring all County residents have access to sufficient, nutritious food.
