The activities of the Food Council are accomplished primarily through our Working Groups, led by Council Members and staff, populated by concerned residents with a shared commitment to making a positive impact in our food system.
These subcommittees develop and executive initiatives, support policies, and facilitate partnerships connected to their specific goals.
Anyone is invited to join the Working Groups, which meet more frequently and independently than the whole Food Council. Public participation in our working groups is essential for our success and we welcome all volunteers to join our effort.
Please contact info@mocofoodcouncil.org if you or your organization/business is interested in getting involved. Information on the mission, current projects, and meeting details is available on each Working Group page.
Our goal is to develop and sustain an economically viable local food system through relationships with local food entrepreneurs, farmers, and food and beverage businesses, and the expansion of our MoCo Made Program. Through the MoCo Made initiative, we seek to increase the visibility of the more than 75 Montgomery County-based food businesses and farms through connections to networking opportunities, new individual, retail, and wholesale customers, educational resources and events, and more.
