Community Development Advisory Committee

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich is seeking applicants to fill two to seven public vacancies on the Community Development Advisory Committee, which reviews funding requests and provides recommendations on grant awards to the County Executive’s Office. Ideal applicants should understand the needs of low-income neighborhoods and have strong leadership abilities. Members serve three-year terms without compensation, although transportation and dependent care are provided for in‑person meetings. Applications, including a letter of interest and résumé, are due by Friday, Aug. 14. Apply online here.
Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board

Community help is needed to fill 11 openings on the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board. Businesses, nonprofits, and residents—especially those in the Rockville Pike Corridor—are encouraged to apply. The Board advises County leadership on local priorities such as transportation, human services, and public safety. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The symposium will focus on new federal regulations under H.R. 1 and their anticipated impact on Medicaid and Qualified Health Plans under the Affordable Care Act. Children’s Opportunity Alliance Resource Thrive by 5 MoCo
Thrive by 5 is a new website to support families of children ages 5 and under to navigate early care and education and the resources available in our County and state. Medicaid Changes Impacting Noncitizens
A new federal law (H.R. 1) has changed Medicaid eligibility requirements nationwide regarding immigration status. As a result, some noncitizens in Maryland will lose their Medicaid coverage effective Oct. 1, 2026. The Maryland Department of Health has launched a dedicated toolkit to help you navigate these changes with those you serve. Access these resources here.

The Senate Agriculture Committee is considering Chairman John Boozman’s (R-AR) Farm Bill proposal that fails to reverse the harmful cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the budget reconciliation law, H.R. 1, passed last July.
