The Resident & Community Gardening Collaborative is an initiative of the Montgomery County Food Council. It is a virtual space to convene community and urban gardeners in Montgomery County in order to build new connections and to share gardening best practices. Committee meetings also create opportunities to learn about the community’s available resources, needs and wants as they relate to resident and community food production.

The Resident & Community Gardening Collaborative meets bi-monthly, with special presentations, speakers, and discussion topics as a feature of each meeting. The priorities of the Subcommittee are:

  • Facilitate skill-building and technical training opportunities, and collect and share information about technical assistance resources
  • Research, and advocate for, educational opportunities and tutorials in Montgomery County related to community and urban gardening
  • Highlight gardening educational opportunities and resources on a specific page on the Food Council’s website. This webpage will be designed to be a resource for the general public.
  • Increase support of current existing community gardening and victory gardening programs within the County

This call will feature several speakers to hear about summer gardening programs that are taking place throughout the region. We will also be joined by the Office of Food System Resilience to hear about the FY24 Resident and Community Gardening Grant Program. Register for the meeting here
