Maryland Local Food Council Collaborative Funds Five New Food Councils

The Maryland Local Food Council Collaborative is providing $10,000 each to five emerging food councils in Maryland, including Anne Arundel County, Caroline Food Stability Workgroup, Upper Shore Food Council, Mid-Shore Food Council, and Kent County Local Food Council. These funds aim to strengthen these councils’ capacity to promote policies supporting the local food system. The Collaborative, established with a USDA grant of $250,000 to Montgomery County Food Council, facilitates collaboration among Maryland-based local food councils and seeks to advance equitable food system policies at both local and state levels, with support from partners like the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council and the Maryland Department of Emergency Management.
