The SNAP Benefits Outreach and Enrollment Collaborative. Participants include representatives from organizations such as Maryland Hunger Solutions, City of Takoma Park, Catholic Charities, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, and others that work directly on resident outreach and enrollment, in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Topics covered include:

  • Outreach strategies, to increase enrollment in SNAP and federal nutrition programs
  • Challenges related to enrollment, such as internet access, people experiencing homelessness, and language barriers—and strategies to work on overcoming these challenges
  • Updates to federal policy that impact local implementation of outreach related to SNAP, WIC, etc.
  • Best practices for outreach, communications, and customer service related to nutrition benefits
  • Other topics, as identified by Working Group members
