The Montgomery County Food Council is pleased to announce that seven new members have been selected to join the Food Council, and three new members are joining our Board of Directors. These new members possess a wealth of expertise in local food and community issues and have demonstrated a commitment to improving the food system in Montgomery County.
The new Board of Directors members are:
- Jack Bobo, CEO, Futurity
- Evelyn Kelly, Program Director, Institute for Public Health Innovation
- Mike Houston, General Manager, Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-Op
The new Food Council members are:
- Marla Caplon, R.D., L.D., Director of Student Wellness Initiatives for Montgomery County Public Schools and Operations Lead for the Montgomery County Food Security Task Force
- Kelly Doordan, Montgomery County Solid Waste Advisory Committee
- Elisa Gonzalez, Ph.D., Associate, Community Science
- Kate Medina, Founder & Executive Director, Charles Koiner Conservancy for Urban Farming
- Amanda Nesher, Food Security Consultant
- Christine Taylor, Ph.D., Food & Drug Administration (Retired)
- Grayce Wiggins, Housing and Community Development Manager, City of Takoma Park, MD
The Food Council offers tremendous thanks to our outgoing members, who will transition off of the Board and Council at the end of December. Outgoing members include:
